At Northern Virginia Oral, Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery, our team of dentists want you to avoid high, out-of-pocket costs when visiting our office. Because we offer specialty services, you might think using your Fed Blue dental insurance is futile; however, you’ll be pleased to learn that we are considered a Fed Blue dentist in Alexandria . That means we are in-network with this particular plan and will be happy to maximize your benefits each time you visit. Fed Blue Coverage Availability & Fees

A customized dental bridge in Alexandria

If you have a Fed Blue plan, otherwise known as a Blue Cross Blue Shield FED dental plan, there are two different options to choose from: a high option and a standard option. The categories are broken down based on basic, intermediate, and major services, and they look something like the following for those with the high option plan:

  • Basic Services: 100% covered (i.e., exams, cleanings, X-rays)
  • Intermediate Services: 70% covered (i.e., oral surgery, gum scaling)
  • Major Services: 50% covered (i.e., dental implants, root canals)

For those with the standard option, the breakdown is as follows:

  • Basic Services: 100% covered (i.e., exams, cleanings, X-rays)
  • Intermediate Services: 55% covered (i.e., oral surgery, gum scaling)
  • Major Services: 35% covered (i.e., dental implants, root canals)

There is no annual deductible for these plans, and there is no benefit limit for those who choose to see an in-network dentist and who have the high option plan. However, for those seeing an in-network dentist but have the standard option plan, Fed Blue will agree to pay up to $1,500 per person each year.

While it is beneficial to see an in-network professional, it is not required. You will save more money in the long run, but you are not obligated to do so. If we do not partner with your dental insurance company, you can still expect to receive the same, great oral healthcare services, but you will be required to pay more out of pocket on the day of your appointment.
