Dr. Dr. Amir Naimi

When Dr. Naimi realized he could provide life-changing services to those in need as an oral surgeon, he knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life! He ultimately chose to pursue both his undergraduate and dental doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. From there, he completed a four-year residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Tufts University in affiliation with the New England Medical Center in Boston. Today, he continues to pursue advanced training on a wide range of topics, from full arch rehabilitation and facial rejuvenation to anesthesia. Plus, he is a member of the prestigious national dental fraternity, Omicron Kappa Upsilon!

Something that truly makes Dr. Naimi stand out from the rest is his genuine passion for his craft. That translates to excellent chairside manner, personalized treatment plans, and the utmost attention to care every step of the way. Whether you need your wisdom teeth removed or you want to rebuild your smile with dental implants, he looks forward to seeing how he can help you!

As for life outside the office, Dr. Naimi enjoys spending time with his children and doing various outdoor activities, like skiing and hiking. He’s also passionate about using his time outside the office to participate in community service programs, including Mission of Mercy, the Virginia Dental Association Foundation, and Operation Smile!

Dr. Pedram Yaghmai

Dr. Yaghmai has always loved working with his hands, and he wanted to find a career that would utilize that skill. Although he explored a variety of medical professions, he ultimately chose dentistry because of its unique blend of art and science. Plus, it allows him to interact with patients one-on-one while building genuine relationships!

A Virginia native, Dr. Yaghmai chose to pursue his studies close by at Virginia Commonwealth University. In fact, he earned his undergraduate degree and DDS there! For him, the next step was to complete a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, which is where he obtained his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Although he’s completed continuing education on a wide range of treatments, he has a special interest in dental implants, bone grafting, sleep apnea treatments, and TMJ surgery. Nearly two decades later, he remains extremely passionate about working with the individual needs and preferences of his patients to deliver personalized treatment plans and phenomenal results.

When Dr. Yaghmai isn’t at the office, you’ll most likely find in watching/playing soccer, playing piano, practicing yoga, and spending time with his loved ones. He is also passionate about volunteering with the MOM (Mission of Mercy) Project as well as the Northern Virginia Free Clinic.

Dr. Amro Shihabi

Dr. Shihabi’s impressive career began at the University of Pennsylvania, which is where he earned his DMD. The next steps were to earn his medical degree and complete an internship in general surgery at Louisiana State University. However, his pursuit of advanced training was far from over. He then trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, completing post-graduate training in maxillofacial oncology, microvascular reconstruction, and more.

If these accomplishments weren’t impressive enough, Dr. Shihabi is also a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Additionally, he has won several awards, including the University of Pennsylvania International Dentist Award, and served as the VP of the Patuxent Dental Society and the secretary and treasurer of the Maryland Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shihabi’s interests include traveling with his family, spending time outdoors, lecturing on oral and maxillofacial surgery both nationally and internationally, and participating in mission trips to bring care to impoverished communities.

Dr. Hadi Ansari

Dr. Ansari was initially drawn to oral surgery because of the blend of science, art, and medicine. Now, he loves that, as an oral surgeon, he gets to spend each day meeting with people and using his surgical skills to genuinely help them!

For his undergraduate degree, Dr. Ansari attended the University of Calgary. Next, he obtained his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh (where he graduated in the top 10% of his class!). From there, he pursued a rigorous four-year residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in South Florida at Broward Health Medical Center and Nova Southeastern University, completing training in hospital-based anesthesia, the surgical extraction of teeth, complex bone grafting, and much more. During his final year, he served as chief resident and then was awarded his specialty certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!

Dr. Ansari enjoys using his time outside the office to be with his wife. He also likes being active by going on hikes, challenging his friends on the racquetball court, and traveling! Here’s something you may not know about him: he’s an avid fish keeper and can never have too many aquariums.

What is the best way to find an oral surgeon who does dental implants?

Whether you ask loved ones for recommendations or turn to Google to find providers in your area, there are a few things you should consider when looking for an oral surgeon who does dental implants. Naturally, education and experience are crucial. However, you’ll also want to keep other factors in mind, like how comfortable you feel at the practice and if they utilize the latest dental technology.

Fortunately, our team at Northern Virginia Oral, Maxillofacial & Implant Surgery is led by board-certified oral surgeons who have undergone extensive training. With the rest of our team at their side, they are proud to offer efficient, personalized, and comfortable care to each and every person that enters our office. What do you do if you can't afford an oral surgeon?

Patients are often concerned that their treatment will be too expensive. To help prevent that from happening, we offer several financial solutions! We welcome both dental and medical insurance from many of the nation’s leading providers, including Aetna Dental PPO, Cigna PPO, MetLife, and United Concordia. If you aren’t insured, then we can review your other options, including CareCredit and periodic special offers.

What level of education is required to be an oral surgeon?

After earning their undergraduate degree, someone interested in becoming an oral surgeon needs to earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Sciences from one of 67 accredited dental schools in the US. From there, they need to complete a residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery, which requires another several years of training. Even after they begin practicing, they need to complete continuing education regularly to stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology.

How can I make a same-day appointment with an oral surgeon?

If you’re struggling with a dental injury, like a painful wisdom tooth that needs to be extracted, we encourage you to call our office right away. Over the phone, we can learn more about your situation and determine the best course of action. While we do our best to offer same-day appointments, some treatments (like dental implants) require more planning to complete. Don’t worry – we will still do everything we can to restore and rebuild your smile as quickly as possible.
